Your Life - Sex O'Clock

Lovemaking seems to have become lovebreaking, with half the adult population hurting themselves during sex in the past year.

About 23 million suffered injuries such as broken bones and bashed elbows.

The most common problem was pulled muscles followed by back injuries, carpet burns and cricked necks.

Researchers found the sofa was the most dangerous place to make love because of plates and other breakables.

The bedroom was a better bet for "safe sex" than the stairs, the car or the shower.

Nearly half were so blinded by passion that they only realised they were hurt the following morning.

The injuries forced 5% to take time off work.

www.OnePoll.com, which surveyed 4,000 adults, said: "Sex is a risky business.

"Our advice would be to remove dangerous objects well before you plan to start making love and take care while in the act."
